It would seem obvious, but
for those not convinced here are the reasons. Satellite is
the only form of wireless communication that does not require
a system of stations to transmit its signal. In fact, one
satellite dish can cover 1/3 of the Earth’s surface,
and just three satellites are able to send their signal to
almost every part of the planet.
To achieve the same amount of coverage through
a standard transmitting system would require an enormous quantity
of ground stations throughout the world. Another perk with
satellite is the ease of adding the service.
There is no need to wait for transmission
stations to be built. The service is available to everyone
from day one. Obviously, it is the perfect way to break international
boundaries. The possibilities for satellite services are endless,
already they have expanded from sending out television signal
and assisting the prediction of the weather to things like
Internet access, mobile phone service and networks for international
corporations. What is next is an exciting thought. |
